WUI Blog

Welcome to the WUI Blog. This is where you can read about what we're up to with news, current projects, behind the scenes stories, science communication, and all other things WUI.

One of the things that really drives us at WUI Productions is the ability to capture and share the elements of nature around us, and to share it in way that highlights natures beauty in its purist form.

When we started making films at WUI, we had a desire to create films that focus on environmental conservation and to educate people on important matters and stories in and around our natural world.

These films generally take a more science-based look in these worlds and examine those issues through research and data. But there's always more layers to these stories than what we're able to include in these films, and sometimes that means just taking a step back and sharing how beautiful our natural world is.

The two videos featured in this post were both captured in the many natural areas found around Fort Collins to highlight that there are some incredibly scenic and pleasing natural sights to be seen, even in a bustling urban city in Northern Colorado.

We'll continue to create these short films as we explore the areas around us and as we travel to new places around Colorado and beyond to share their beauty with you.

If you like these videos and want to see more as we produce them, or if you have any suggestions for new nature videos, please give us a follow on our YouTube page, or any of our other social media channels.

We wanted to share two of WUI Productions' films that have been selected at various film festivals across the globe.

The poetic documentary Beyond the Soil, which was produced alongside the Center for Science Communication, is an official selection at the International Film Festival the Hague the Berlin Short Film Festival, and EkoFilm! Beyond the Soil has the potential of more selections, with its application under review at multiple other film festivals.

Focus, Please was directed by Eric, and Matthew was an assistant camera on the short film about the late diagnosis of ADHD in women. The film is an official selection in the Vienna Independent Film Festival and Horsetooth Fest.

These film festival selections showcase our team’s ability to create noteworthy narratives and content about important topics that need increased awareness.

The first two films of our new film series, “Hold Our Ground” were just released and debuted at Colorado State University (CSU) Spur on Sept. 19th. This series focuses on communicating the soil health journeys of farmers and ranchers and was produced in collaboration with the CSU Center for Science Communication.

These films are our biggest project and collaboration to date. Being able to share science in this way was made possible through the Saving Tomorrow’s Agricultural Resources (STAR) grant, and we are excited to have been able to film and produce this series.

We traveled all across the state of Colorado to connect with STAR farmers and ranchers to hear about their work and to have critical conversations about challenges, opportunities and, most importantly, foster relationships with the faces behind our food.

The “Hold Our Ground” film series seeks to use visual storytelling as a means to engage and inform both agricultural producers and the public of the importance of soil health. To learn more about this project, check out this CSU Source article.

If you’re interested in this type of project, we would love to discuss our client-focused process of producing high-quality films with you.
